Our client
BLAST (Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust) is one of the leading legal services organisations in Bangladesh. It provides legal aid, advice and representation across a range of areas, and prioritises support to women, men and children living in poverty or facing disadvantage or discrimination. Alongside individual legal aid, BLAST undertakes strategic litigation, or public interest litigation, as a key part of its advocacy for law and policy reforms to ensure effective legal protection of rights. During the project’s implementation phase BLAST and the Embassy requested MDF Training & Consultancy to support coordination among consortium partners.
The challenge
While each consortium partner has a specific set of skills which complement each other within the consortium, each partner, although strong in its own thematic area, needs support in other skills to have a balanced holistic approach in managing its specific geographical area. Other challenges include lack of implementation process which needs systematic guidance and supervision, and revision of the current Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) system to include increased options for data collection and analysis.
Our solution
Improved management capacities and effective coordination between respective organisations and project field staff to improve SHOKHI implementation (HR, Administration and Finance). MDF Training & Consultancy will coach staff and relevant senior management members, and provide managerial skills coaching to consortium partner staff in the SHOKHI project team. The process will identify their managerial skills and undertake motivational activities to increase individual self-confidencel and ability to work in a team respecting the role and functions of others. Coherence among the different roles and functions within consortium organisations will be improved.
The results
Staff members will be able to effectively function according to their respective roles and responsabilities. Based on the skill assessment process management staff will receive training in managements skills and in monitoring & evaluation.
An M&E system will be designed, focusing on the development of user-friendly tools and data collection, analysis collected data and how it feeds back into the project on both operational and management levels. A database will be developed for system analysis, storage and transfer into relevant and accessible information.
