The client

Nuffic is a Dutch organisation for internalization in education. By achieving this, it supports international students to study in the Netherlands or receive training in their home country by Dutch training providers.

The challenge

An increasing number of Myanmar nationals study in the Netherlands or receive training by a Dutch training provider. To further strengthen the linkage between The Netherlands and Myanmar, connecting these alumni is crucial. With food security being one of the main focus areas of Dutch support to Myanmar, organising an event to bring together stakeholders (including alumni) can contribute to improved cooperation in this area.

Our solution

In cooperation with the Holland Alumni Association of Myanmar, Golden Plain Livelihoods and AgriProFocus, MDF developed the event programme and managed the organisation from start to finish. The programme included presentations by Dutch and Myanmar actors, networking sessions and expert workshops. The event was attended by a variety of public, private and development sector actors.

The result

Both Dutch alumni as well as other stakeholders active in the Food Security sector in Myanmar have developed many new connections. This will contribute to increased cooperation in this area, and thereby will enable improved action to achieve food security for all in the region.
