What is inclusive business?
According to World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), inclusive businesses are businesses that offer opportunities and benefits to low-income communities and help to alleviate poverty. A business can become inclusive if it increases possibilities for example in the fields of transportation, sanitation, or health care.
Free online course
Recently, a coalition of four organisations started the Inclusive Business Accelerator (IBA). MDF Training & Consultancy supports this initiative by co-developing a free online course titled Introduction to Inclusive Business. This course presents the concept and practices of inclusive business. Inclusive businesses include low-income people either as consumers, distributors, employees, suppliers or entrepreneurs.
MDF Training & Consultancy in West Africa and the Inclusive Business Accelerator have started the IBA Hub in Accra, Ghana. It aims to attract local and international organisations, businesses and entrepreneurs that need support, and to coordinate the delivery of high-standard services to these clients. The IBA Hub marries our longstanding global and local experience with the innovative, qualified business services and online platform of IBA.
Network, training and business advisors
The first batch of twelve new business advisors has now taken their first steps to becoming preferred IBA advisors. Being trained, and capable of using the Inclusive Business Toolkit, they are now ready to deliver inclusive business development services to entrepreneurs and businesses. The IBA Hub runs programmes in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and Agribusiness, and provides business development services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The IBA is ready to connect ventures, advisors, organisations and investors online and offline.
