The client
International Committee of the Red Cross operates worldwide, helping people affected by conflict and armed violence and promoting the laws that protect victims of war. In Myanmar, the ICRC works to provide basic but vital assistance to people affected by armed conflict in the northeast of the country and inter-communal violence in Rakhine State.
The challenge
The HR team of ICRC in Myanmar is quite new. Led by an experienced HR manager, ICRC felt that the team needed to take its HR knowledge and skills to a higher level. There is no Human Resource management formal education degree in Myanmar.
Our solution
MDF developed a tailor-made training programme specific to the needs of the ICRC HR team. The training was provided in Bago, and included sessions on the HR cycle, competency-based interviewing, understanding staff motivation, coaching and dealing with resistance and conflict.
The results
The HR team is now aware of HR practices. They have the skills to recruit, select, motivate, coach and develop the ICRC staff.
