The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organisation in the field of migration, working closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 165 member states, offices in over 100 countries and a further eight states holding observer status, IOM is dedicated to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all, by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
In 2011 IOM published its Project Handbook to guide IOM staff through all stages of the IOM project cycle, from project conceptualization through to evaluation. MDF Training & Consultancy assisted IOM in developing the accompanying Training of Trainers content and trained trainers in implementation. Since 2011, 617 IOM staff have been trained using these ToT guidelines. In 2016 IOM is finalising its update of the Handbook, incorporating substantial revisions to the project management chapters. This update requires corresponding changes in the Training of Trainers.
MDF Training & Consultancy is delivering the following services in assisting IOM translate the updated chapters of the Project Handbook into Training of Trainers sessions:
- A training Needs Assessment workshop to agree on the final updated training programme, including the sequence of sessions;
- Facilitation of a co-creation workshop to develop prototype sessions for a three-day Project Management training based on the updated version of the IOM Project Handbook;
- Finalisation of the sessions, based on feedback from trainers participating in the pilot sessions;
- Facilitation of the finalised Training of Trainers for selected IOM staff in its Geneva Headquarters.
By the end of the assignment, IOM will have updated ToT trainers that will roll-out the Training of Trainers in IOM offices worldwide for staff and partners.
